Create Future Good

The rights of a child to be fairly treated, educated, loved, protected and respected are violated every day, all over the world. We believe that the articles outlined in the UN Declaration for the rights of a child should be a reality for all children. We work towards ensuring these basic but important rights are known, understood, enjoyed and upheld by everyone.

During my Junior year at the University of the Pacific, the Graphic Design level 3 class in conjunction with the International Business class had the opportunity to work with established organizations creating graphics and product designs to help with the organization's goals. My group worked with Nadella Oya, the director of Create Future Good. The purpose of Create Future Good is to help children enjoy their rights through creative interventions and shaping conscious adults who will make a better world. I worked on a project they created called Yell and Tell, a small video that explains to kids what good and bad secrets are, and what they can do if they have a bad secret. For example, a good secret is a surprise party and a bad secret is if someone hurts them in any way, they should tell an adult they trust, like a parent or teacher. Our group decided to create online gifs, a webpage, and a coloring book for this project. I was in charge of creating the coloring book.

The coloring book, "Yell and Tell", was based off of the video they had created. I decided to create a character outline throughout the book that allows kids to draw themselves into the book as they read the story. The book's focus is to help kids understand what a good and bad secrets are by reading the story and creating their character.
